President Bush gave the first lady her belated birthday present Thursday, a Scottish terrier named Miss Beazley.
The puppy, a gift to the first lady from the president for her 58th birthday in November, was born on Oct. 28. The puppy joins the Bushes' other two pets: Barney, another Scottish terrier, and a black cat named India.
Administration critics will be quick to accuse the White House of conducting a "photo-op" in a transparent attempt to draw the nation's attention away from Mr. Bush's asleep-at-the-switch reaction to the tsunami disaster, the widening quagmire in Iraq, election irregularities in Ohio, the growing rich-poor divide, and oh yeah -- the cat's name insults an entire country.
